C. S. Lewis was born November 29, 1898 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He was born into a religious family, but had lost his faith by the age of thirteen, becoming instead a committed atheist. After reaching adulthood, however, his opinions once again began to shift, to the point where he decided that belief in God was more reasonable and rational than disbelief in God and that Christianity was demonstrably the best of all religions.

He joined the Anglican Church, and subsequently became famous for a series of books aimed at guiding skeptics towards a robust and confident embrace of Christianity. Although sometimes criticized for peculiarities in his views and weaknesses in his arguments, his writings remain popular and influential because of their readability and intellectual depth. In addition to his theological works, he is also remembered for his Christian-themed fiction, most notably his classic series of children’s fantasy, The Chronicles of Narnia. He died on November 22, 1963 in Oxford, England.
